It's not every day an airport goes up for sale, but that's exactly what recently happened in Spain. What makes it even more unusual is a Chinese investment group wants to buy the abandoned airport for just $11,000.The Ciudad Real airport was built six years ago but closed in 2012. Although the owners of the airport stand to lose almost all their money, the town itself has high hopes. CCTV's Dan Williams filed this report. More details: The town of Ciudad Real has a population of 75,000 people and is a two-hour drive from Madrid. The airport in Ciudad Real opened in 2009 at a cost of about 500 million dollars. It has a four kilometer runway, able to handle the world's biggest passenger planes, but stands empty and closed down.
China has unveiled its first large passenger aircraft to be made on home soil. One of China's state-owned plane manufacturers has produced the plane in a Chinese initiative to compete in the market for large passenger jets. China is one of the world's biggest aviation markets but currently relies on Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The new C919 was rolled out at a ceremony attended by some 4,000 government officials and other guests at a hangar near Shanghai's International Airport. CAHOKIA, ILLINOIS — A St. Louis woman is now facing charges after she tried to jack a corporate jet from the St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia and fly it to China. Sauget, Illinois Police Chief Patrick Delaney says 38-year-old Naima Wartts broke into the airplane because she wanted to fly to China. The FBI, TSA and Homeland Security are all on the case. Wartts was able to get past security in her car before she sneaked onto the jet. She got onto an unlocked corporate jet owned by a bank in Hong Kong. Jet aviation workers saw Wartts trying to start the plane, but the battery was disconnected because of maintenance. If it had not been disconnected, officials think she may have been able to pilot the jet. "She reads a lot of aeronautics magazines,"Delaney said. "I think she might ...
